Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US. She is a Greek-American author, syndicated writer of columns and businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality as well as the proprietor of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Following her move into England from Greece at the age of 16 and obtaining an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. As the first foreign student to serve as president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take on the role. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she finished her degree. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the political situation. Her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she decided to stand independently in the California recall election to replace the then governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna led a Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most influential woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. Although she had a close relationship with both of her parents and father, it was their relationship that shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities from the beginning. At the age of 16, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies and eventually was its first foreign female president. The year 1972 was the year her master's in Economics was awarded. In the years following her degree she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She began to write books, taking his help in editing.
