Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with the benefits of community service. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. He moved to Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
